The Family Faith Journey
We want all people to know Jesus. We want families especially to know Jesus. And parents are the primary spiritual influencers of their children. The Family Faith Journey
is a series of Family Faith Events
for you and your child to gain hands-on experience in sharing the faith. We want you to teach your child about Jesus so you can hug them in heaven.
Please look at the different Family Faith Events
below for a brief description. You can also register for an event from this page.
As our children grow, they grow in their use of technology. By learning what pre-teens and teens are doing online, understanding the good and bad parts of the internet, and how to protect your identity, you will help your child to be safe online.
"PJs and Popcorn" - YOUR LOVING FAMILY
Your child is part of a loving family and you want to protect that love. By learning how God speaks about our bodies, his design for family, and what to do when we see bad pictures of people, you will gain confidence in protecting your family’s love. Your family is important to you and we want to help you protect your family and the love within. This family faith event is designed to give your children a fun activity while you spend some time tackling how to talk with your child about sex. According to researchers, the average age of the first exposure to internet pornography is 11 years old. It is usually accidental, but it can have devastating effects. Pastor Wilcox will show us how we can begin a conversation with our children about God's plan for sex. This event is especially for 1st and 2nd graders and their parents or guardians, but all families are welcome to attend. The kids will munch on popcorn, hang out in their PJs (at church!!) and watch a fun movie. The parents and guardians will meet to dig in to God's Word. All families will receive a free book they can use with their child to help them begin this important conversation.
INFANT - 1 YEAR OLD
BABY BIRTHDAY BASH
God made families— and yours is special! Our role is to help you raise your children to know Jesus so that you can hug them in heaven! Your baby will be included in Cradle Roll (until they turn 4) and you’ll receive regular mailings with information to help you at every stage!
LASER IN ON GOD'S LOVE
Everything we have comes from God: from all our stuff, to all our gifts and abilities. How can we use that to serve God? Parents and their children meet at Good Shepherd’s for a fun activity together to see how we can better serve our Lord. Afterwards, we go out on a fun laser tag outing. This event is mainly for 5th graders, but all children are welcome. Parents please attend the activity at church with your child. Parents are welcome to come and play laser tag, too, or they may choose to pick their child up from church.
3 YEARS OLD - GRADE 1
COUNTING HIS SHEEP / DAILY PRAYER
Personal time talking with God is a faith habit at the core of a deepening relationship with Jesus. Learn how to teach your child the value of informal and formal prayer, four types of prayer, when to pray (all the time!) and how to lead your family to pray in all situations, big or small. This event is a part of "Counting His Sheep" which is a fun night of games, songs, snacks and time spent with God's Word - all in the comfort of your own jammies!
"PJs and Popcorn" - COMMITMENT TO SERVICE
Come in your PJs for some fun at church and time with God's Word. God commands us to “serve one another in love.” We find joy in using our God-given abilities to take care of the needs of others. Learn to help your child identify their talents and use them to serve at home, at church, in your community—all for God’s glory! Then grab some yummy popcorn and join us for a movie.

TAMING THE TERRIBLE TWOS with FAMILY BLESSINGS
Toddlers absorb everything they see, hear and experience—positive and negative! Learn how the practice of Family Blessings encourages children to feel accepted and valued at home, and as part of God’s church family. Daily Family Blessings connect your child to the One who loves them most!
Your child is a child of God—unique and special just as God created him/her. But we were not created to live alone! Modeling the importance of regular, congregational worship helps your child understand that they are a part of a larger community of believers in our Savior Jesus.
3-4 YEARS OLD
Daily time with God’s Word helps us to stop and focus on our Savior Jesus, even in the midst of busy lives. Learn how to develop the practice of spending regular family time with God’s Word, so it becomes a natural part of your daily routine.
The Bible is the only way to know and grow in understanding of who God is and what he’s done for us. The Holy Spirit works through God’s Word in your child’s heart to continually transform him through the work of sanctification. At this age, your child is excited to read on his/her own! Learn to encourage and coach your child to read on the Bible daily, so it becomes a life-long habit.
